If only Joe from a year ago knew what a treat his pre-order of Weta Workshop's incredibly evil achievement would be!
My continuing love of Weta Workshop's line of Lord of the Rings collectables is only re-enforced by this incredible work from sculptors David Tremont and Leonard Ellis. As usual, the attention to detail even in a piece only 28 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm holds up to photography, making it look so much bigger than it is if you punch in and keep the focus deep.
Weta continues its tradition of keeping the value high on these high-priced items by keep the run numbers low. Minas Morgul solid out last year, shortly after release. If you Google around you can find people and stores reselling them, but expect to pay at least the full retail price of around $800USD ($1,200NZD).
In my opinion, this piece is worth every single penny. The craftsmanship, the attention to detail, the engineering around laying down green LEDs into the base so that it serves as the creepiest bedside nightlight you can imagine. If you're an LOTR fan, you'll find every little detail incredible. You can see each individual imperfect brick, and even the bottom of the stairs of Cirith Ungol. You won't be able to keep your eyes off this thing.
